This song has many stages of evolution. The working title was Jandek, a nod to the atonal singer-songwriting I was listening to at the time. I later changed the title to Disown, referring to the dissonant chord which anchors the song. I released an updated version of the song on my first EP Small Comfort, and this became the title track. I also recorded a re-imagined version of the song for my second EP Duende.
lyrics
Remember? For what?
Vanity? It's no complement
Now my head's in a corner
And I can see where there is light
But it isn't here
Not in this place
But now we can see so much differently
Pull us back, keep us warm
Pass the time
I don't think we know where this is headed
