about

Duende is a collection of songs I developed in the isolation of this past year. We all know it's been difficult. While working on this music I found that I had time to explore my memories. The best and worst moments of my life. Struggling to know myself. Having life put in perspective by death and grief and even a total solar eclipse. Time has been fluid lately - fretting about the future, fearing the present, my past bubbling up in unexpected ways, and this was the background noise in my mind while I worked on this music.

Small Comfort explores these contradictions and ambiguities. Proportion is all about grief. In the finale, Dreams, I include 10 voices of friends recorded remotely to join together in a chorus. Finishing the EP this way is hopefully symbolic of a reunion that is yet to come, but that seems within reach after so much time being deprived of our loved ones.

This recording is dedicated to the memory of Ryan Haldeman.
